As the moving day approaches and you have to pack up, all kinds of uncertainties suddenly arise, such as:

Below we answer these and other frequently asked questions about packing moving boxes. We share our packing tips. With these tips, the packing will be easy, and you will be smart about the preparations for your move.
- See if the removal van can reach the door. Can a removal lift be installed?
- Start cleaning up what you should not take with you to your new home.
- Make a map of your new house and number the doors of the rooms. Then, on the boxes and furniture, you write the number of the room it has to go to.
- Taking measurements in the new home in connection with placing furniture.
- Provide a few pieces of carpet if there is no paved path for the new house.
- If you are not sure whether a parking exemption is required, ask the municipality.
- (Officially, you must report when blocking a street or passage)
If you are going to pack
- Start packing as soon as you have the boxes at home. It always takes more time than you think. If you take the time to get the protective packaging ready ahead of time, it will be much easier to pack. You can buy them online at Britwrap.
- Put on each moving box where it should go. (which room, e.g., indicated by a number)
- Divide heavy items (such as books, LPs, etc.) over several boxes and do not fill them completely.
- You can pack fragile items in tissue paper or pack them together with linen and mark these boxes.
- Do not pack large mirrors and paintings if they cannot fit in an open moving box.
- Plants may be packed in moving boxes. These moving boxes do not necessarily have to be closed.
- You can leave hanging clothes. This goes straight from the closet into our intended wardrobe boxes.
- If you are short of boxes, feel free to call the moving company for more boxes, this will prevent many problems.
- When you disassemble furniture, mark the various parts. (this makes mounting easier)
- Keep the screws together in a bag and stick them on the parts.
- Inquire with the municipality for a possible loading/unloading permit and any work in the street of the new address. The customer is responsible for this.
ON THE MOVING DAY ITSELF
- Arrange parking space in front of the house so that the removal van can come close to the door (cars from the driveway, etc.)
- The more you have to walk, the longer the move will take.
- Thaw and dry out in good time when in storage, refrigerator, and freezer. Keep your refrigerated items cool and fresh in chilled packaging boxes.
- Drain the last water from the washing machine (at the bottom of the machine)
- Thread all keys that need to move along on a thread.
- Have coffee, creamer, sugar, toilet paper, cups, towels, and soap handy.
- Make sure everything is packed in moving boxes, as many closed boxes as possible. This works much more clearly.
IN THE NEW HOUSE
- Make a possible layout in advance of the places where the furniture will be placed.
- Number all rooms (indicate numbers by means of a note/sticker on the door of the rooms). Also, mention this on the accompanying boxes/stuff. This way, we can quickly and easily put all the things in the right place.
- Stay close to the movers if they have any questions about placing your belongings.
- Let the refrigerator and freezer rest for a few hours before plugging the plug back into the socket.
